Verizon already has a branded 7″ tablet under its belt, Verizon Ellipses, which they introduced last November and which you can get for $49.99 with a two-year contract. Please note that this is a 4G only tablet, as far as data connections go that is, Wi-Fi is of course available. This device is sporting a 7″ 720p (1280 x 720) IPS display, 1GB of RAM and a quad-core 1,2GHz processor. The device comes with 8GB of internal storage expandable via MicroSD card up to 32GB and Android 4.2.2 pre-installed. You can also find a 3.2MP camera on the back and 0.3MP shooter on the front amongst other specifications. This device was reported to be a bit slow when it comes to multitasking but alright overall. It seems like Verizon is preparing a refresh though.
A new tablet visited Bluetooth SIG recently carrying a QTAQZ3 model number (image above). We’re talking Verizon’s tablet made by a Taiwanese manufacturer Quanta here as it seems. The tablet passed through Bluetooth SIG sporting Bluetooth 4.0. We don’t know much about this device at this point, but we presume it’s going to be a refresh to Verizon Ellipses. There’s of course a possibility that this is a Windows Phone device or something like that, but we kind of doubt that. It is kind of hard to talk about the value of the tablet considering we don’t have much to go on here.
If your fingers are just itching to get a new tablet right now, you can find a 2nd-gen Nexus 7 on the cheap side now considering the refresh launch is close. Although Nexus 7 isn’t exactly the only choice on the market but it seems like a best buy for quite some time now as far as 7″ Android tablets go. As soon as we get more information on this mysterious Verizon tablet, we will let you know of course. We don’t know hen will it be released though that might happen soon, so stay tuned, you’ll be the first one we let in on new information.
