Next month is going to be a pretty busy time around here. It’s the start of the fall season, but that also means it’s the start of the busiest season of the year for us. Between all the product announcements and reviewing all those products, we also have holidays coming up. ASUS is supposedly going to be announcing their smartwatch at IFA next month. Which wouldn’t be a real surprise, as ASUS is always at IFA, even if they don’t announce anything big. For quite a while, ASUS has been working on their own Smartwatch, which they are one of the OEMs that’s on the Android Wear partner list. Which tells us this is likely to be an Android Wear smartwatch.
According to Focus Taiwan, it will be their first Android Wear smartwatch which will be unveiled at IFA next month. This comes from what ASUS CEO Jerry Shen stated at an investors conference. It’s also being said that ASUS’ smartwatch has been well received by the folks over at Google. It’s also said to have a better design than their competitors with a low price. So they didn’t come out and say the design is better than the Moto 360, as they just said “our competitors” so ASUS might be talking about those that are available, like the Samsung Gear Live and the LG G Watch. And if the price is low enough, I think it will sell pretty well.
Jerry Shen also stated that he doesn’t think the wearable market will grow as quickly as the smartphone market, but they also don’t want to be behind, like they are in the smartphone market. I’ve been really interested in ASUS’ Android Wear smartwatch, as their hardware has always been pretty good, and looked amazing. So it’ll be interesting to see what ASUS comes up with here for their own smartwatch.
