Moto G successor may have bigger screen, but same processor and specs

It’s almost inevitable that we’re going to see a follow-up to Motorola’s extremely successful Moto G. The device has sold extremely well and helps budget-conscious consumers get their hands on a pretty decent smartphone. We haven’t heard too many rumors about a Moto G +1 (or whatever it may end up being called), but thanks to a leaked benchmark we’re getting a look at what Motorola might be planning to do with the device.

The benchmark shows a device with the model XT1063 that shares much of the hardware from the original Moto G. There’s a Snapdragon 400 CPU clocked at 2.2 GHz, an Adreno 305 GPU, and 1 GB of RAM with 8 GB of internal storage. The screen resolution also shows 720p, but the size of the screen is marked at 5 inches as opposed to the Moto G’s 4.5-inch display. Aside from the screen size, the only other difference is a bump to an 8 megapixel rear camera from the 5 megapixel on the current iteration.

If these specs hold up, the Moto G2 will be just as solid of a device as the original. It won’t compete with any high-end phones, but if it’s priced as well as the Moto G, it’s bound to be just as successful.

If you already own a Moto G, would these slightly improved specs make you want to upgrade?
