Big Tweets Lets You Cast Your Twitter Feeds To The Big Screen Via Chromecast

Big Tweets

Still tweeting? Still casting using Google’s little HDMI dongle that could? Perfect, then you’ll probably want to at least give this new Chromecast app a try as it merges the best of both of these worlds. Big Tweets is a Chromecast app with a focus on delivering you the latest tweets from all your feeds on the biggest screen possible. Your TV. There are already Twitter apps built into most of the major consoles out there, but just in case you don’t particularly like the interface or don’t own a console, you can still read your twitter feeds on the big screen for cheap as Google’s Chromecast is only $35 normally, and they’re on sale for $30 at amazon right now.

Big Tweets has some awesome features for anyone willing to cast their tweets, like customizable themes, styles, colors and so on. It also let you build a theme of your very own if you feel so inclined. There is a catch to Big Tweets though if you’re a Twitter fiend who can’t stay away. If you’re going to be casting your tweets to the Chromecast for longer than 4 hours in any daily period, it’ll cost $2.99 a month to do so, which gives you access to Big Tweets Plus and unlimited casting of tweets. The good news for those of us that probably spend a total of an hour or so checking our twitter feeds throughout the entire day, is that the app will be free to use, so long as the casting doesn’t past that four hour time limit.

Big Tweets does start you out with a 7 day free trial of the “plus” version of the app though, so you can see what all the chirping is about. After the 7 day trial is over with, you’ll be restricted to casting tweets for just four hours a day which is probably more than enough for most users. Unless you live on Twitter. Big Tweets will let you show any of the tweets on your feed, or you can limit the cast to just tweets from you specifically, or tweets with a certain hashtag or any twitter search. The refresh rate of the feed is limited to every 5 minutes on the free version, which is actually better than some of the Android Twitter clients. All in all, Big Tweets is pretty cool and a great addition to the Chromecast for anyone that uses the social media service.
