‘Gear Live’ expected to be Samsung’s Android Wear device, information on device leaks

Android wear

Is today the day that we finally see Samsung’s first Android Wear device? It’s expected that the beans will be spilled (officially) at Google I/O today, possibly at or right after the keynote.

In just a few hours, we might know the full details on the device, including specs and release date… Or maybe we’ll know right now.

If the waiting game isn’t your thing, here’s what we know about the device. (Rumors only, of course.)

So, it looks like it’ll be called the ‘Gear Live,’ and will be available on July 7 for purchasing. There will be a 1.63-inch Super AMOLED display, 1.2GHz processor, 512MB RAM, 4GB internal storage, a 300mAh battery, a heart rate monitor, Bluetooth 4.0 connectivity, and IP67 certification for water and dust resistance.

This sounds familiar, doesn’t it. That’s because it is. The specs are pretty much the same as the currently available Gear 2, but will of course be running Android Wear. The camera is of course missing, but Android Wear does not yet support a camera. (You can bet it will in a future update.) It’s a bit odd that they used the “Gear” name again, as all other Gear devices are powered by Tizen. As this one of course features Android Wear, it may confuse the consumers a bit.
