Smartphones being put through their paces in ‘torture videos’ are nothing new. That said, with the Samsung Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge attracting as much attention as they have over the last couple of months, seeing one of these two devices being put through their paces is even more interesting. Well, a new video which has just gone live by JerryRigEverything does exactly that. Puts the Galaxy S6 through its paces in a number of durability tests.
During the five minute video, the tests performed, look to see how durable the device is under more extreme stress induced circumstances. To provide an overview, the video begins with the Galaxy S6 receiving the key scratching treatment. This quickly escalates to screwdriver treatment and even a razor blade scratching. Following on from this, the Galaxy S6 is then put through a heat durability test, by seeing its metal frame held against a naked lighter flame to test whether it will scorch or burn. As might be expected with a more plastic based frame. This is also followed by the screen receiving the same burning treatment from the lighter. Lastly, the tests involves a bend test to see if it does suffer in the same way in which had been noted by the iPhone 6, as well as in an earlier reported video of the Galaxy S6 Edge being bent at a similar pressure level as the iPhone.
All in all, the Samsung Galaxy S6 holds up well and does provide some good insight into how the device is built and what the real world limits may be for the device. Of course, some of the tests are slightly more extreme than what is likely to be incurred by a premium device during normal life and stresses. However, when paying a premium price for a device, it is good to see that it contains a premium build as well as premium specs. You can check out the full video for yourself by clicking play below. Likewise, if you want to see another device being put through its own torture video, then check out the LG G Flex 2 being run over, dunked, dropped and shot by clicking here.
