Google Calendar for Android has gone through many changes and updates, adding in new features, taking some old ones out, and giving the design and style a refreshed new look with the coming of Android Lollipop and the material design guidelines. While most might agree that the new features of Google Calendar and the new style are much appreciated and great improvements to the application, there was one feature that Google took away which was a favorite among many of its users, the Month View. Currently as the app sits, Month View is not an option for the permanent view setting of the calendar. Users can however, glance at the entire month via the drop down by tapping on the name of the month near the top of the screen.
As of right now users are only able to view the calendar in schedule view, day view, 3-day view, or week view. Luckily Google has been listening and they have announced today that with the new update to Google Calendar and over the next few days, they’ll be bringing back the Month View for the app as an option along with a few other new features or changes. Month View is obviously the star here when it comes to the changes in the latest update, but users will also now be able to see the color of specific events that have been created when jumping to the date those events are on, and views will now be moved to the navigation drawer for easier switching back and forth.
While most people probably tend to stick with their preferred calendar view, some may end up switching to something like day view or schedule view if they have a busy day ahead of them once in a while, and Google is simply making that action of switching between views easier to do. Based on the post from Google about the new changes the month view is only coming back to phones, as they don’t explicitly mention tablets. some people may end up seeing the month view return as early as today if the update to the app has appeared for them, while others will likely have to wait out the week before it shows up.
