Whether its your first time setting up an Android phone, or your 100th time. It’s still an important part of buying a new smartphone. We’re going to show you what the set up process is like on the HTC One M9 today. Please note that this is the T-Mobile version, so there are parts here you won’t see on other HTC One M9’s. Now that, that’s out of the way. Let’s get started with setting up a HTC One M9. If you’d rather watch a video of it, we have one at the bottom of the post for you.
First of all you’re going to select your language. For most of us, we won’t really need to select it, just select “Start”. It’s also important to note that from this screen you are able to make an emergency call, should you need to. Next up is the terms of use. Pretty standard stuff there. So just hit Next.
Now it’s time to connect to WiFi. Pretty simple task. Just find your WiFi network, tap on it, enter your password and connect. And that’s that. Now the HTC One M9 will ask if you want to “Tap & Go”. Which means you can tap another Android 5.0 or higher device to your HTC One M9 and transfer settings, apps and much more info.
Next up, it’s time to login to Google. You’ll type in your username first. Then it’ll look up your account, then ask for your password. Once you’re signed in, it’ll ask if you want to set up your new HTC One M9 based on one of your other devices. So I could set it up with the same apps and settings from the LG G Flex 2, or any of the other phones I’ve used previously. Or you can choose to set it up as a new device. Next you’re going to choose whether to allow Google to use your location or not.
Now it’s time for HTC’s Uh Oh Protection program. You can login with Google or Facebook for this. I’d recommend Google since you’ve already logged into Google. Next you can use HTC’s transfer service to transfer info from one device to your HTC One M9. Next you can add your other accounts like Exchange, Twitter, etc. Finally it’ll ask you if you want to add a screen lock to secure your device, and also customize HTC Sense Home, their launcher. And that’s pretty much it.
So that’s how you set up the HTC One M9. Nothing too difficult. But still interesting to see how different it is compared to other devices.
