Verizon to Begin Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge Pre-Orders on April 1st

Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge MWC AH 32

Well we have a pre-order date for one carrier. And it’s actually surprising to see that it’s Verizon. Normally they are last. Today, Verizon announced, via Twitter, that they will be beginning pre-orders for the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge on April 1st. No word on the pricing just yet, but we’re figuring around $649 for the Galaxy S6 and at least $700 for the Galaxy S6 Edge. Verizon also hasn’t announced what colors the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge will be available in, although I’m hoping they’ll have it in the Green color, I really liked that color in person when I was doing hands on at MWC this week.

So far we have no idea what colors or storage sizes Verizon is planning to offer, But I wouldn’t get my hopes up for the 64GB or the 128GB size. We’ll more than likely only see the 32GB at launch, and might get the 64GB later on around June or July.

Samsung did announce during their press event on Sunday, that the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge would begin global availability on April 10th. Now we get to sit back and wait on the other carriers. We know Samsung will be launching on Sprint, AT&T and T-Mobile here in the US, but so far we have no official pre-order dates from any of them. Pretty surprising to see Verizon go first, right?

The Galaxy S6 has a 5.1-inch Quad HD Super AMOLED display (I must say that pictures don’t do it justice, so when the Galaxy S6 hits Best Buy and other retailers, make sure to go check it out). It also has 3GB of RAM, an Octa-core processor (which has performed very well in benchmarks so far), as well as a 16MP camera on the back and a 5MP camera on the front. It does have a glass back, and it actually feels really nice in the hand, it almost feels like a more rounded Xperia Z3. So while the glass is sort of copied from the Xperia Z line, it doesn’t look or feel the same.
