Sling TV Bringing Thousands of VOD Content thanks to EPIX Partnership

Sling-TV-AH-03799

Sling TV launched last week to everyone (even those without an invite). And they aren’t done adding more content for you to watch. Just today, they announced a new partnership with EPIX, which brings EPIX channels and thousands of VOD content to their ever growing library. The terms between Sling TV and EPIX brings support for EPIX, EPIX2, EPIX3, and EPIX Drive-In.

“Our customers crave the newest movies like The Hunger Games: Catching Fire and Transformers: Age of Extinction, but they also have a growing appetite for the classics and EPIX delivers both,” said Roger Lynch, CEO of Sling TV. “Sling TV will feature EPIX’s linear channels and movies on-demand in an add-on package that is accessible and affordable.”

The company isn’t announcing the pricing of EPIX, which will be another add on, or the launch date just yet. But we should know more in the coming weeks. Their other add-ons are $5 each, for the Sports Extra, Kids Extra and News & Info Extra. So I’d expect something along that line, unless EPIX is wanting more from Sling. Currently, Sling TV is offering you 12 channels for $20/month. Which is a pretty decent deal. That package offers you “ESPN, ESPN2, TNT, TBS, Food Network, HGTV, Travel Channel, Adult Swim, Cartoon Network, ABC Family, Disney Channel, CNN, El Rey and Galavision” channels. Their Sports package also brings along almost every ESPN channel as well as a few others. So if you’re a sports fanatic, it’s definitely a package you’ll want. I’m still waiting on Fox Sports to get added, myself.

“Sling TV is an innovative new way to deliver content to consumers who are looking for alternatives beyond traditional pay television,” said Mark Greenberg, president and CEO of EPIX. “From the very creation of EPIX, we have sought to capitalize on new technology to reach people with our movies where they want them, when they want them and how they want them. This is another exciting step forward with a great partner in that effort.”

How many of you are excited to see where Sling TV goes this year and in the near future? I know I’m definitely excited.
