2nd-Gen Motorola Moto G And Moto X Get Certified In China, Will Be Announced On January 26

Moto G and Moto X TENAA

Motorola didn’t really have a presence in the Chinese market before, but ever since Lenovo purchased Motorola Mobility from Google, we all knew that was going to change. First the rumors came and then an official confirmation from Lenovo, they announced that Motorola-made devices will reach Chinese market at some point. Motorola has officially announced that they’ll hold an event in China on January 26 where the company will announce three handset for the Chinese market, Moto X (2014), Moto G (2014) Dual-SIM 4G version and the Moto X Pro, which is essentially the Nexus 6 with Motorola’s software on the inside. The company has sent out invitations for that event recently as well, and it seems like everything is ready for the big announcement.

Well, both Motorola Moto G and Moto X handsets have popped up on TENAA (China’s equivalent of the FCC) and have received their certifications. Motorola Moto G comes with the support for TD-LTE / LTE-FDD / TD-SCDMA / WCDMA / GSM standards and will offer dual-SIM capability, as I mentioned already. The Moto X, on the other hand, comes with support for TD-LTE / LTE-FDD / TD-SCDMA / WCDMA / CDMA2000 / CDMA 1X / GSM bands, which makes it compatible with basically every major carrier in China (both 3G and 4G), but this handset doesn’t offer dual-SIM capability.

That being said, there are no significant differences in other specs here compared to international models. The Moto G features a 5-inch 720p display along with 1GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage (expandable via microSD card). This handset is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 400 SoC and comes with 8 and 2-megapixel cameras. 2,070mAh battery and Android 4.4.4 KitKat are also a part of the package. The Moto X, on the other hand, features a 5.2-inch 1080p display, 2GB of RAM and 16 or 32GB of in-built storage. 13 and 2-megapixel cameras are available here and this handset ships with a 2,300mAh battery and comes with Android 5.0 Lollipop pre-installed.

There you have it, both of these handsets are now certified and ready to go, they’re only waiting for an official announcement, and that’s it. Any takers out there?
