New rumors and information are starting to surface about a new device from Sony, initially identified as the Sony Xperia Z3X. Although it appears from the name that the device may represent an expansion of the current Xperia Z3 lineup, there is the possibility this is the Z3′s successor that should come out in early 2015. Besides an impressive list of hardware, the device appears to include a new curved camera sensor that Sony has been working on.
The curved sensor is supposed to be modeled after the human eye with the goal of producing more realistic pictures. The sensor is rumored to have a 2/3-inch diameter and a wide F1.2 aperture. Supposedly it has been floating around Sony facilities since July. If Sony pulls this off and the camera sensor’s performance is as good as Sony hopes, this should get users who focus on photographic cabilities of devices interested in the Xperia Z3X.
An AnTuTu benchmark listing for the device indicates it will have a 6.2-inch quad-HD display powered by a Snapdragon 810 processor with an Adreno 430 gpu. Backing this up will be 4GB of RAM. With hardware like this, the Xperia Z3X should also appeal to buyers interested in the latest and greatest hardware available on the market unless they are scared off by the large size.
