If all the latest rumors and leaks are true, sometime this month (likely towards the middle) or perhaps early next month, Google will take the veil off two new Nexus family members — the Nexus 6 and the Nexus 9. Both are a different size than your typical Nexus hardware and both reportedly have a more premium design than Nexus devices past.
Recently we’ve not only learned more about the alleged Motorola Nexus 6’s (aka Shamu) specs, we also saw a mock-up of what the device would look like, based on details leaked by a tipster reporting to Android Police. And now AP has once again got its hands on a juicy Nexus 6 related tidbit, this time a photo supposedly showing the device in the wild.
This isn’t the first time we’ve seen Shamu but it is the clearest image so far. It’s also worth noting that past images might have actually been of a non-Nexus Motorola phablet (Moto S?), which could be released around the same timeframe as the Moto Nexus 6. The reason for this assumption is that the back of the phone had no Nexus branding at all and merely looked like a giant Moto X, which seems out of character for Google.
So is this really the Nexus 6? Honestly, we can’t say for sure, though the design does seem to fall in line with everything we’ve heard about the handset. Of course, it appears to be in a case of some kind so the side of the phone can’t be seen in any detail. Looking at the screen, Android L also falls in line with the slightly tweaked look we’ve seen before.
What do you think, excited for the rumored Motorola Nexus 6? Do you think this is the real deal?
