HTC and Google’s new Nexus 9 is one of the hottest tablets to be announced this year. The tablet is up for pre-order from the Google Play Store, but it’s not available for everyone just yet. That didn’t stop Cellphone S from grabbing one and putting together a 3-minute and 23-second guided tour on up on YouTube for us. The video walks us through the design and feel of the tablet. It gives us a look at the Nexus 9 from all sides. The reviewer also describes the tablet, saying that it is about the same size and feels like an iPad Air, but that it’s actually more compact and lighter than an it’s Apple competitor. The video walks us through all the specs that we already know about the tablet, and it describes the device as feeling solid because of its metal frame. The back feels like a Nexus 5, and the display looks good.
The Nexus 9 has an 8.9-inch IPS LCD display with a 2048 x 1536 screen resolution. It is powered by a 64-bit NVIDIA Tegra K1 chipset and has 2GB of RAM. There’s an 8-megapixel camera on the back, a 1.6-megapixel camera on the front, and 32GB of internal storage. The device is available for pre-order and we already have an order placed. We’ll confirm these initial video impressions for you as soon as the device gets to us. The Nexus 9 is supposed to start shipping on November 3.
We also got a direct side-by-side look at the Nexus 6 yesterday, compared to a Samsung Galaxy Note 4. Both of these devices are definitely going to make November a fun month, as we get them in our hands and get to play around them. Some of us are stoked on how big the Nexus 6 is; some of us are not. I think we can all agree that the Nexus 9 is a going to be a great tablet.
