RUMOR: Samsung SM-A500 To feature Galaxy Note 4 Interface and 13MP Camera

Samsung-Galaxy-S5-Sport-AH-1

Recently, we’ve heard that Samsung might be working on a few new smartphones for their Galaxy A lineup of devices, also known as the Galaxy Alpha. And the latest one is the SM-A500. This one is expected to be a slightly larger smartphone when compared to the Galaxy Alpha. We’re looking at a 5-inch display instead of a 4.8-inch display on the Galaxy Alpha. Specs are still pretty mid-range, but that appears to be the point of the Galaxy Alpha line. Good devices, with mid-range specs, at mid-range prices. Which I can’t really argue with, as Motorola has made that popular in the past year with the Moto G.

Now we’re hearing out of Sammobile that this new device, the SM-A500, might be featuring the same Touchwiz interface as we saw on the Galaxy Note 4 earlier this month. Which would be a surprise as usually devices don’t get that new interface for quite a while after the Galaxy Note 4 is released. Although we still don’t have a release date for the SM-A500 anyways. Of course, you won’t be getting the S Pen, or any of those features as they will always be exclusive to the Galaxy Note lineup, unfortunately.

The second part of this rumor is the 13MP camera. Now we don’t typically see 13MP camera’s on mid-range devices. But then again, Samsung’s high-end devices do have a 16MP camera on the back. So this could prove to be true. It would be nice to have a good 13MP camera on a mid-range smartphone though. It’d probably sell pretty well, especially over in Europe and such.

It’ll be interesting to see what rumors of the SM-A500 actually pan out to be true. I’d definitely like to see Samsung work a bit harder on their mid-range smartphones. As that seems to be the big race nowadays, which Motorola started last year with the Moto G.
