WhoHasAccess Is An Easy Way To See Who Can Access Your Google Drive Docs

If you collaborate and regularly share files in Google Drive, there are a lot of people that have access to your information. Drive does a good job of giving you control over who can access documents and what level of access they have. The collaboration that Drive offers is one of its strengths. It’s not always easy to keep track of what you’ve shared, or who you’ve shared them with. You could have sensitive documents in Drive that are still available to random coworkers from years ago. It may not even be important information. Drive doesn’t give you an easy way to see, at a glance, all of the people that can access your files. A website called WhoHasAccess wants to give that to you.

WhoHasAccess gives you a list of people that can view and edit your Drive documents. The interface is clean and the information it returns about your docs is presented in a list that is easy to sort through. It scans the meta data of each file in your Drive account, checking for people that can access files and what level of access they have. It then returns that info to you in a list that shows who can get into what document. WhoHasAccess even shows you that information and files you are publicly sharing. The web app gives you a button to revoke access to each file, and each person who can access that file.

You do have to give WhoHasAccess permission to access your Google account so they can get into Drive and scan for permissions. They say they can’t see any of your file contents, though. The service was created by the team behind analytics service CatchApp. CatchApp ties into your apps like Dropbox, Trello, Evernote, and other collaboration tools. It pulls them all together in one interface and provides you with insight and details about what your team is doing. You can also create lists to monitor certain activity from each of the apps you tie to it.
