Benchmark reveals Moto X+1 actually packs a Snapdragon 801

Moto X

As we march closer to the Moto X+1’s official arrival, the number of leaks related to the handset have began to increase. Most recently we got a good look at an alleged image of the device, and there have been a number of rumors detailing some of the X+1’s specs.

Up until now, it has been largely believed that the new Moto X successor will feature a Snapdragon 800 CPU, likely with a similar X8-type configuration as found with the Moto X. Now thanks to new specs that have leaked out via GeekBench, it seems that we were wrong. The Motorola XT1097, believed to be the X+1, will offer a 2.46GHz Snapdragon 801, likely the same MSM8974-AC as found in the Galaxy S5.

In short, this means that the Moto X+1 will use one of the newest SoCs available to the market, a very different strategy then we saw with the original Moto X. This might not be as impressive as something like the Snapdragon 805, but it’s the same chip as we’ve seen in every other 2014 flagship so far (with the exception of a few special LTE-A variants). Other specs for the Moto X+1 include 2GB RAM, a 5.2-inch 1080p display, 32GB storage with microSD, a 12MP rear cam, a 5MP front cam, a 2900mAh battery and Android 4.4.4 KitKat.

Providing the specs above all prove to be true, what do you think of the Moto X+1 based on what we currently know? Impressed or not?
