A couple foreign news sites recently managed to get their hands on a new device from Pantech. The company appears to be ready to enter the market to compete in the large smartphone category, especially the stylus-equipped segment, with the Pop Up Note. The first thing one may notice about the device is the craftsmanship and premium look. According to the hands on reports, the feel of the device matches the looks.
From a hardware standpoint, the Pop Up Note is just a half step behind most flagships hitting the market this year. It comes equipped with a 5.5-inch full HD display, a Snapdragon 800 processor running at 2.3 GHz, 2 GB of RAM, 16 GB of internal storage, and a 13 MP rear-facing camera. It does come equipped with a microSD slot, but can only accommodate an additional 16 GB of storage.
The Pop Up Note includes a fingerprint scanner on the back and there is the stylus that is accessed via a button on the side that causes the stylus to pop up leading to the device’s tentative name.
It is unclear whether consumers may ever get their hands on this device though. Pantech has supposedly reached out to Korea’s three largest carriers asking for large orders to head off bankruptcy.
