5 Android apps you shouldn’t miss this week – Google Play Weekly

It was quite the busy week in the world of applications. In Google’s classic update Wednesday, Gmail, Google Music, and YouTube all got pretty decent updates. Facebook Messenger got an update to version 9 which includes Android Wear support. Humble Mobile Bundle 6 is out and you should just go get it! There is an independent app in progress that could compete with Android Auto called Digital Car. Last up, Google acquired Emu this week and we assume that means Google Hangouts will be getting some updates soon. Now for five Android apps you shouldn’t miss this week.

Google Now Launcher Android appsGoogle Now Launcher

[Price: Free]

First up this week is Google Now Launcher. The increasingly popular launcher from Google has been updated to now function on all Android devices running Android 4.1 Jelly Bean and later. That means a majority of the Android ecosystem can now use this launcher. That’s exciting news if you love all things Google. It’s available in the Play Store free of charge right now.

Guardians of the Galaxy TUW Android appsGuardians of the Galaxy: TUW

[Price: $4.99]

Guardians of the Galaxy came out in theaters and did amazingly well because it was a pretty amazing movie. There was also a mobile game released and it’s actually pretty good too. It features simple, click-and-drag game play, an original story, has no in app purchases, and doesn’t require an internet connection to play. It’s $4.99 but considering you get the entire game that is playable in offline mode, this is the kinda stuff a lot of you have been asking for. Now it’s time to put your money where your mouth is.

Attopedia Android Wear appsAttopedia for Android Wear

[Price: Free]

The highlight Android Wear release this week was an application called Attopedia. It is an open source application designed to let you browse Wikipedia on your Android Wear device. It has a fairly interesting and efficient design where you swipe down to pick your sub heading and then you swipe left and right to read the information in that sub heading. It’s a fun time killer and it’s totally free so check it out.

[Price: $0.99]

Our next app is fairly simple. A bright, presumably young person is trying to cash in on the Guardians of the Galaxy craze by releasing a keyboard that lets you talk like Groot. Well, it worked because they keyboard is fairly entertaining. It’s a dollar to buy and no one is going to blame if you don’t feel like it’s worth it.

Assassin's Creed PIrates Android gamesAssassin’s Creed Pirates

[Price: Free]

Last up this week is Assassin’s Creed Pirates. This fairly entertaining game is on sale right now for a measly $0.10. This is part of a much larger summer sale the Google Play Store is having which you can find here. There are a bunch of great games on sale. As for Pirates, I mean come on, it’s only a dime.
