An update to the unlocked version of the Samsung Galaxy S5 is now rolling out in Europe, bringing improved performance, bug fixes, and better fingerprint scanner recognition.
The update brings the version number to G900FXXU1ANG2, though the Android version remains to Android 4.4.2. So far, the update has been spotted in Germany, the UK, and other markets in Europe.
While the update changelog only mentions improved performance, users report that the fingerprint sensor works slightly better now, with fewer false negatives. General performance seems snappier as well, but don’t expect any major differences.
The update is substantial in size, at 194MB, meaning that Samsung has applied quite a few changes under the hood of the Galaxy S5.
As always, updates like this one roll out in waves, meaning that it can be weeks before they hit your device. You can wait for an OTA notification, but sometimes plugging the device into Kies and checking for an update does the trick.
