Modern Combat 5 arrives to Google Play, no IAP this time around!

When it comes to hardcore FPS games on mobile, Modern Combat is very likely the first series that comes to mind, and with good reason. While MC is no Call of Duty, it manages to bring mobile gamers excellent eye-candy, relatively decent campaign modes and a respectable online multi-player system. Now the latest game in the series has arrived to Android, bringing all the action we’ve come to expect while also ditching in-app purchases in favor of a full premium game experience.

Now to be fair, unlike many of Gameloft’s other titles, Modern Combat 3 and 4’s in-app purchases weren’t necessary to enjoy the game, consisting of power-ups that made things easier and the like. That said, many folks will be glad to see these optional purchases removed from the latest game. On the downside, the game does require an active internet connection to play, which could be a dealbreaker for some gamers.

Modern Combat 5 is available right now from Google Play, priced at $7. While this might be more than the $1 or $2 you find many premium apps for, this is more than fair for a game of this caliber and much better than the typical price you find on Square-Enix’s premium games.
