After months of dancing around the release of this fully featured FPS title from Gameloft, Modern Combat 5: Blackout is finally here and it looks better than ever. For the last few months we had been receiving teasers and information about the game from Gameloft, which had left us wanting just a little bit more and a little bit more. MC5 was slated for a release tomorrow July 24th, so we had half expected to see it pop up on the Play Store sometime after midnight. Gameloft has went ahead and launched the game a full day early though which is fine by us. You can expect a premium price tag to go along with this premium game, so make sure you’ve got your wallet handy.
To pick up a copy of Modern Combat 5: Blackout you’ll be forking over $6.99, and just as they had stated the game is free of any sorts of in-app-purchases. That makes this game completely premium, but still at a price that is well worth what Gameloft is asking, especially when you compare it to the price of some of Square Enix’s most expensive Android titles. Not that I haven’t paid for some of those myself, I have, and I thoroughly enjoy them, it’s just that $7 is a lot easier to swallow than $17.99 or $19.99.
Now that the game is here be sure to clear out at least 1GB of space. The game takes up 932MB in space total. Just like we had talked about before Modern Combat 5 now features multiple character classes so you can pick the one that fits your personality best and run with it. You can upgrade your character class through the game’s deep progression system, which is unified of course between the single player campaign and multiplayer experience so there’s no missing a beat. Gameloft has been toting this game as the most beautiful mobile FPS game to date and we are inclined to agree. Having seen plenty of the footage of the game ourselves and as of now just barely a little bit of hands on gameplay, it really looks every bit as good as they described. The only downsides(and this is personal opinion)are that the game needs an internet connection to function, and it seems that there isn’t any gamepad support just yet. The good news about support for controllers is that we were told that it would be added at some point even it didn’t make it into the launch version of the game.
