Samsung is no stranger to great commercials. I still think they make some of the better commercials for their devices, especially the ones making fun of Apple and their users. Like the commercial they released earlier this week making fun at the iPhone 6 for getting a bigger screen when Samsung (and really all Android smartphones) have had it for a few years now. Now this commercial from Samsung isn’t actually making fun of anyone, but showing off that they are an official partner of the ASP (Association of Surfing Professionals), and there are subtle hints of their own Galaxy devices and brand in the commercial, as expected, but overall it’s a really nice looking commercial, which you can watch the entire 2-minute clip down below.
For the past 3 years or so, Samsung has been killing it on marketing and especially with their ads. And it shows in their quarterly earnings, as they are really the only Android OEM that is actually making money, because they sell so many devices. And their flagships don’t make up the majority of their profit either, a big chunk of it is their low-end and mid-range offerings. It’s something we’ve been writing about for years, that other OEMs need to get into marketing their devices. We’ve seen them try, but not really succeed. There was HTC’s whole “Ask the internet” campaign for the One M8, and now LG is doing the whole #LifeBeyondTheGalaxy which is obviously a stab at Samsung’s Android Brand. Which I think is pretty clever, but I’d love to see other OEMs really step up their ads and marketing like Samsung does. Especially Motorola, as they make amazing devices, but the general public really doesn’t know about it, at least not that much.
