Now that the Galaxy S5 Prime has become a reality in the form of the Galaxy S5 LTE-A version for South Korean customers, words is that LG is getting ready to release their own version of the G3 with a faster CPU in it. Going on how Samsung has handled the launch of the Galaxy S5 LTE-A, there’s very little chance that the faster version of the G3 will be made available outside of South Korea, having said that, the G3 is already a very well-specced machine so we question how big an upgrade the LTE-A version of the device will be.
As GforGames has noticed, an LG device with the model number of “F460S” has been spotted in the Bluetooth SIG database and this device has been spotted before now, with different letters at the end of its model number. These letters are presumably references to different carrier models in South Korea, with the “F460S” perhaps heading for SK Telecom. With a Snapdragon 805 and 3GB of RAM as default, this upgraded version of the G3 will certainly perform a little better, but more than device performance, the 805 is all about faster LTE.
In South Korea, there’s an apparent need for devices like the Galaxy S5 LTE-A that can reach speeds of up to 225mbps and considering the nation’s addiction to subsidies, it’s no surprise that model after model is coming from LG and Samsung as users change their phones in a matter of months. Still, with the LG G3 already packing a Quad HD display, it does seem a little strange to include a Snapdragon 805 and if said device is to launch in the very near future, it begs the question as to why LG couldn’t simply put the Snapdragon 805 in the G3, period. With Spark and XLTE technologies from both Sprint and Verizon, it’s clear that America’s LTE networks are evolving, but we doubt we’ll see the need for an upgrade like this, sadly.
