Console OS Kickstarter Is Now Fully Funded, Native Android For PC On The Way

Console OS

Back On June 12th, we reported on the Console OS Kickstarter and about their 50K goal with a campaign that would be continuing through till August 11th, two months later. Just a little over a month in and with 27 days left to go before their Kickstarter campaign ends, the team behind Console OS(Mobile Media Ventures)has had their project completely funded and are even a couple thousand over what they initially set up. This means that they’ll most likely be getting much more than they were hoping for by the time the campaign is over and will be able to bring an even better experience to the Console OS project with more funding to help further develop it.

For those that are unaware, Console OS is a project that aims to bring Android over to the PC platform where it doesn’t currently have a native presence, allowing for not only an amazing graphical and visually stunning gaming performance of Android games running at console or PC quality, but the ability to dualboot back and forth between native Windows and native Android. Console OS is a fork of Android, but the team promises full compatibility with any of your Android apps or games, and that also means purchases from the Play Store. Since this is a fork(although native Android)the Play Store app won’t actually be present within Console OS, but any purchases of apps or games that you want to run in Console OS will be made possible through an app that Mobile Media Ventures has developed to connect Console OS to your Play Store purchase history.

Mobile Media Ventures plans to make switching back and forth between Android and Windows easy and reboot free through a toggle button called InstaSwitch, and they already have a lineup of devices to support Console OS on, with more planned if they end up getting enough funding. They mention that if you have a suggestion for a device to support, your vote is taken into consideration if you’re one of the backers of the Kickstarter Campaign. The best part is that installing Console OS is utterly a pain free experience, or so it can be. There are two methods, both of which are simple. Install Console OS to your PCs internal drive or install it from an external USB hard disk for a little more peace of mind that you don’t have to mess with your windows install. There’s still plenty of time left if you want to get in on the campaign funding, and you can do so by jumping to the Kickstarter page below.
