For those of you that used or owned the LG G2, you may be familiar with the camera mod that was floating around and had ported features from the LG G Pro 2 and even the G Flex. It also brought 4K to the G2 and 120fps 720p video as well as a few other cool features. Well now we have a camera mod for the LG G3. This one isn’t as feature which just yet, as it’s just gotten started, but so far its looking pretty good. They’ve added in a higher bitrate for 4K as well as recording at 60fps in HD.
The bitrate for 4K is now 40mbs, which it was 30mbs previously. It can also record 1080p video at 60fps now instead of 30fps, and has a bitrate of 30mbs as well. For those of you interested, there’s a video sample below of how the 4K at 40mbs looks and how well it records. Now as far as installation goes, it’s not a matter of just flashing a zip, or installing an APK. Here’s how the XDA developer, Hendrickson, has stated to install the camera mod, at least for now:
“Unzip and replace the attached media_profile.xml with the included one to system/etc overwrite it and reboot. (Use root explorer or any good root file manager) Tested and working on my G3. I have also set JPEG quality to 100% on all modes. This gives a very slight improvement to photos and a minor file size increase (~5%)”
So far it’s looking pretty promising for those with the LG G3 that may have been worried about there not being enough development here for the device. But we already have a camera mod, and it’s just going to get better. I wouldn’t be surprised to some other pretty awesome features get backed in here soon.
