In 2008 Civilization arrived to modern consoles in a brand new title, made from the ground up for game systems and dubbed “Civilization Revolution”. The game eventually made its way to iOS in 2009 and eventually to Windows Phone in 2012. Interestingly enough, it never made its way to Android.
For fans of the Civilization series looking for a fix on Android, however, we have some good news: Sid Meier’s Civilization Revolution 2 was officially announced earlier today, this time with a focus on mobile platforms. While the game will first arrive to iOS on July 2nd, it also said to be coming soon to Android devices. Unfortunately, we don’t have an exact launch date.
As for what the game will bring? We expect it to provide a similar experience to the original Revolution title, meaning the classic Civilization experience watered down a bit and optimized for touchscreen controls. That also means a focus on historical civilizations, and the ability to choose 16 historic leaders including Gandhi, Napolen and Lincoln.
The original port of Civilization Revolutions to mobile was of questionable quality and was less impressive than the full console version, so here’s to hoping we don’t have a repeat situation with the new mobile-focused sequel. Either way, we’ll be sure to bring you more information as soon as we hear it.
