ZTE Now Accepting Applications for its Innovation Venture Fund

Earlier this year, ZTE announced their Innovation Venture Fund. Which is an effort to help select app developers and startup companies in the US grow and reach better exposure through ZTE’s channels and resources. Basically, if you have an innovative idea for an app or service, ZTE is going to both fund your operation and give you an opportunity to work with their own development teams. They are also providing the app to ZTE smartphone owners across the world. And with ZTE being a pretty big OEM – especially over in Asia – that’s going to give you an instant audience that’s pretty large.

The first company that partnered up with ZTE was Azumio. Who is famous for their instructional Fitness Buddy app. The free version of this app has been downloaded over a million times in the first two months on the Google Play Store.

ZTE has now opened applications for their Innovation Venture Fund. The new fund is here to bring unique and innovative mobile applications and content to the North American market. Developers and startups that are selected will have their ideas come to fruition when distributed across ZTE’s global ecosystem that consists of a growing family of “smart” products. From smartphones, to smart projectors to just about anything in between. ZTE will be providing more than just equity or financing, but also strategic partnership opportunities to jointly innovate with you and your team on a global scale.

While ZTE may not be that popular, they actually are really popular here in the US. They are actually number one in pre-paid smartphones and number four overall. Many of the smartphones you see on store shelves in Boost Mobile, Virgin Mobile, T-Mobile and others are ZTE made smartphones. Although a lot of their older ones do not have their names on them. Like the Boost Max. ZTE is well known for making some pretty cheap, but good devices here in the US. Over in China, they are well known for making really high-end smartphones, like the Nubia line. Which we got hands on with in Barcelona and were quite impressed with what ZTE can do.
