Samsung Held a Launch Party for the Galaxy S6 Edge This week in NYC

Samsung does this quite often actually, but they held a launch party to showcase the Galaxy S6 Edge on Tuesday in New York City. They’ve been doing this for the past number of years to help promote their newest smartphone even more than just regular marketing. Some of the ladies that were in attendance for the launch party included Gigi Hadid, Hilary Swank and Sophia Bush. You can see pictures from the event at the bottom of this post.

The Galaxy S6 Edge and Galaxy S6 are going to be available on Friday, from all four of the major carriers here in the US. That includes AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile, and Verizon. The Galaxy S6 Edge is curved on both the left and right sides. But not curved as much as the Galaxy Note 4 Edge was, which actually made the device a bit wider to use. And the Galaxy Note 4 was already a pretty big smartphone. The Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge both feature 5.1-inch 2560×1440 resolution Super AMOLED Displays. Along with an octa-core Exynos 7420 processor, 3GB of RAM, 32GB/64GB/128GB of storage as well as a 16MP camera on the back and a 2600mAh battery. While the Galaxy S6 Edge features a slightly smaller 2550mAh battery inside.

Both devices are launching tomorrow, with pre-orders already shipping out. Compared to last year, carriers as well as Samsung are reporting huge increases in sales over the Galaxy S5. Additionally, Samsung is getting all kinds of praise for the Galaxy S6’s design, compared to the Galaxy S5 and S4 where the media was not to happy with the design. So it appears that Samsung hit the nail on the head with their Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge this year. Samsung has also decided to cut back on the number of devices they put out this year. Typically they’d announce a ton of them by this point in the year, but they’ve actually only announced a handful, besides the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge. Which includes the Galaxy A5 and Galaxy A7 that likely won’t make it over to the US.
