Both the upcoming LG G4 and the Sony Xperia Z4 have recently been spotted on the GFX Bench website, showing off test results of the framrate capabilities of the GPU’s compared with other devices like the HTC One M9, Galaxy S6, Galaxy Note Edge, Nexus 6, and others. These GPU framerate results are the latest details in a series of leaks for both phones leading up to their eventual launch, although so far there are no actual confirmed details about either device. So far the rumors have speculated various pieces of information about the specs and the release dates, with the LG G4 having an unveiling at the end of this month when LG holds their flagship event.
As for Sony, there has been no talk by Sony Mobile about an announcement event or an actual release, but there have been numerous image leaks and renders of what the device is believed to look like, as well as rumors about specifications. If the information on this GPU test from GFX Bench is correct, then the Sony Xperia Z4 would be equipped with an Adreno 420 GPU, and the LG G4 would be equipped with an Areno 418 GPU, which suggests both devices will be carrying Qualcomm Snapdragon chipsets. In the case of the LG this isn’t too hard to believe since the LG G Flex 2 already uses the latest available Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor.
While this is anything but an actual confirmation, the Adreno 420 GPU is paired with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor, so the Sony Xperia Z4 could be following the rumors and be powered by the octa-core Snapdragon 810. As for the Adreno 418, this suggests the LG G4 will carry the Snapdragon 808 processor, which is a hexa-core CPU and was already a rumor prior to the GPU test results showing up. Based on the image, the Sony Xperia Z4 received a score of 1115 frames at 18.0 frames per second, while the LG G4 seems to have received a more modest score of 548 frames at 5.6 frames per second. It’s important to keep in mind that these test results could be based on early builds of the devices that are not meant for launch, and real world experience could vary.
