Xiaomi is believed to be preparing to launch more new or after unveiling a 40-inch, full HD variant of the Mi TV yesterday and new versions of the Xiaomi Mi Note, one with a 2K resolution screen and at the time of writing, both sadly only available in China. The latest rumors point towards the new products being announced on the 31 March and whilst we have very little concrete information, we understand that Chief Executive Officer Lei Jun will be present to oversee the new launch. It’s also looking like we will be seeing multiple products, too, according to the source website and other online rumors.
Whilst Xiaomi are keeping quiet as to we that they are planning to unveil, it’s looking like we will be seeing a new mid-range smartphone and a smartwatch device featuring a brushed metal design and a round face. The Xiaomi smartwatch is reckoned to build on the growing medical device aspect of Xiaomi’s business and include a blood pressure sensor that uses a pulse wave velocity sensor. Various sources online reckon the new smartwatch week be called the Mi Watch. There’s no word if the rumored Mi Watch will run Android Wear, a customized version of Android or a completely different operating system. Of these options, given that many of Google’s products and services are currently banned in China, if the Mi Watch were to run Android Wear perhaps it will either only be sold in international markets or will be modified by Google or Xiaomi.
The smartphone leaked details place it very much in the mid-range, with a 4.9-inch, 1080p display backed up by a 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 processor and 2 GB of RAM: this is the leaked Xiaomi Ferrari handset. We’re expecting the device to have 16 GB of onboard storage, a 13MP rear camera and a 5.0MP front camera. The Xiaomi Ferrari handset runs Android 5.0.2 Lollipop and an updated version of MIUI. The new mid-range device is interesting because it doesn’t easily fit into any of Xiaomi’s existing handset lineups, plus the use of a Snapdragon processor. Perhaps the new device has been designed for international markets? We will know more at the end of the month at the 31 March announcement.
