Featured Review: Cyntur JumperPack Mini

It appears that the next big thing in battery tech and external battery packs is creating an external battery pack that can charge up your smartphone, but also jump start your car. Sounds like a pretty cool idea, right? You’re killing two birds with one stone that way. However, it doesn’t always work that way in practice. I reviewed another battery pack recently, that was smaller both in terms of size and capacity, and it did not fair to well when jump starting a car. But Cyntur promises that their JumperPack Mini can jump start up to a V8 car. And they also say that their battery pack can hold a charge for up to a year. But does it?

Obviously, we haven’t had our review unit for a year, But I will say it can keep a charge for quite a while. It sat on my desk for about 2 weeks without being used and it’s still fully charged. So that’s a good thing. Cyntur has opted for a four LED light system here to show the charge of the battery inside. While I’d prefer an LED display that shows the exact percentage, this is better than nothing. Once more you can turn on and off the battery instead of turning it and letting it idle. So if you’re not using it, be sure to turn it off so it keeps that charge.

This is a 12,000mAh battery. So that it does hold quite a bit of juice. And it also has 250 cranking Amps of starting power. Additionally, it’ll fully charge in about 4 hours. Through the USB port it can output 2.1A, so it does support Qualcomm’s QuickCharge. On the top of the device there is a flashlight as well as a “trap door” which houses the charging port, USB port and the port for the jumper cables that come included. While it’s not the prettiest looking external battery pack around, it does get the job done.

Included with the JumperPack Mini is a nice carrying case. So you can put the battery in one side and the other side has a net to keep cables in tact. Like a micro USB and the jumper cables. So you always have them with you. It’s available now on Amazon for $105, which isn’t a bad price considering we’ve seen smaller batteries that can jump start your car for the same price.
