What’s inside Motorola’s mysterious box? A new Moto E with 4G LTE, a faster processor and more

moto e press conference box

If you don’t remember, Motorola was supposed to be sending us a “box” with “everything we need” inside today. What was inside that box? A press conference. No, really — it’s actually a press conference inside a box, uncomfortable nametags, paper-thin Rick Osterloh and all. It was all to unveil the new Moto E, a follow-up to the budget device from yesteryear.

This new Moto E comes with 4G LTE, an added front-facing camera and a faster quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 chipset clocked at 1.2GHz. You’ll also get a slightly bigger battery at 2,390mAh, 8GB of internal storage, 1GB of RAM and a 4.5 inch 960 x 540 display. It’ll ship with Android 5.0 Lollipop so there’s no need to anxiously await the latest version of Android out of the box.

If that’s not enough, you’ll like the fact that it’ll only cost $150 unlocked (you can get a model with a Snapdragon 200 chipset and a lack of LTE for $30 cheaper). Not bad for those specs, we’d say, and it should be a very capable smartphone for someone who doesn’t need a supercomputer in their pockets

The device is headed to more than 50 countries in North America, Latin America, Europe and Asia starting today, with the United States getting the ability to order it straight from Motorola.com. You can add a couple of cool cases for $20 each if you like, so be sure to check those out while you’re placing your order. Stay tuned as we look to show you everything inside that marvelous box later today.
