AccuWeather Updates Their App With Full Android Wear Support

AH AccuWeather-1

Everyone has their own favorite applications for things like news, weather and the like. Weather apps are prominent and easy to get your hands on because there is literally a hundreds of different apps dedicated to feeding you the information on your local and other forecasts as well as other useful weather information. One of the most popular weather applications that has been around on Android for nearly the entire time it’s been an operating system available to the public is AccuWeather, and while it was a pretty good weather app before, they’re giving it even more value with their latest update by bringing in Android Wear support.

Google already provides you weather information via the Google Now cards that show up on your wrist, which is great because it gives you what you need at a glance. AccuWeather though not only sends notifications to your wrist whenever your connected device gets a weather alert, but you can open up the app on Android Wear anytime you like and check things like weekly forecasts, today’s temperatures and weather standings, and more just by tapping and swiping to navigate to it, or by speaking to the watch and opening the app using the voice control.

The AccuWeather app on Android Wear gives you four screens to flip through. One for the day’s weather conditions, the weekly forecast, and the awesome MinuteCast feature which gives you minute by minute precipitation forecasts that are hyper-localized to your exact street address. Checking the MinuteCast on Android wear is easy as you can simply drag your finger around the dial on screen to see each minute. Lastly you have the alerts page which gives you information on any advisories, and then a fifth page to open the AccuWeather app on the phone. You’ll also of course get cards on the watch whenever notifications pop up on your phone so you won’t always have to be opening the app up yourself, but it’s nice to know that there’s an option for it and that AccuWeather saw the value in adding full Android Wear support and not just notification cards. The update is already live so you should be able to grab it from the Play Store and gain Android Wear support immediately.
