Vivo X5 Max may have a Mini version with a thicker frame

vivo x5f Vivo plans on launching the world’s thinnest smartphone, the Vivo X5 Max, on December 10th. The phone looks like a fantastic mid-range device, especially if you like paper-thin phones. Thanks to a TENAA filing, it looks like Vivo plans on launching a Mini version of the X5 Max, too.

The smaller phone will likely be referred to as the Vivo X5F, and it sports a smaller screen with most of the same specs as the Max. There’s a 5-inch display on board (as opposed to the 5.5-inch of the Max) and the same CPU found in the bigger version. Unfortunately, if the TENAA filing is accurate, the smaller version won’t be quite as thin as the X5 Max.

The Max is rumored to clock in at just 0.15-inches (or between 3.6 and 4 mm) wide, but the Vivo X5F looks like it’ll be a little thicker with a 6.3 mm width. That’s still insanely thin, but it’s about 50% wider than the X5 Max. The logistics of cramming identical hardware into a smaller body means the dimensions have to change to fit everything, though.

Either way, the official announcement for Vivo’s latest is tomorrow, so we’ll know for certain how small these devices are soon.
