Blackphone has announced an update to their PrivatOS software that brings in several new features focused on enhancing user security and privacy. The update brings the highly tweaked Android OS fork to version 1.1 and is due out sometime in early 2015.
The update brings a new feature called Spaces, which creates individual, self-contained environments on the device so users can manage their personal and business lives on one phone without having the information mix. That sandbox approach is a pretty cool solution to avoid having to carry around multiple devices.
Blackphone will also be getting the world’s first privacy-focused app store, featuring only apps that take privacy and security seriously. Obviously the selection won’t match Google’s Play Store, but in this instance, that’s not the big concern.
