Stalwart music discovery service Shazam announced today that they are re-launching their platform to provide a “more immersive music discovery and uninterrupted listening” experience for users. According to Chief Product Officer Daniel Danker, “we want Shazam to continue to serve as a destination for music fans, increasingly becoming the center of their music world.” The new platform comes with updated apps and a refreshed, new shazam.com web site.

Shazam users who have made use of the app will discover that they are now welcomed with personalized music news, trending songs based on friends and artists previously tagged, “exclusive” Shazam Sessions, and other information. Shazam indicates they are also providing expanded charts to help users spot trends in the music landscape.

Users who subscribe to premium streaming music services Rdio and Spotify can now access and play music from their playlists from within Shazam. Users will also be able to surf the Shazam charts to identify, rate and save tracks that they enjoy. As these music player improvements suggest, Shazam has now reached an agreement to connect directly with Spotify, although that feature is currently rolling out to just iOS users. Shazam says Android support will be coming within a few weeks.

Shazam also added a couple new features called Hall of Fame and Shazam Counts. The Hall of Fame is a way for Shazam to recognize and highlight artists who are very successful and popular. Initially the Hall of Fame includes Avicii, Gotye, Robin Thicke and Passenger. The Shazam Counts feature shows users the number of times a track has been Shazamed.
