Rumor: Xiaomi To Launch New Hardware On January 15th

Unlike some other Chinese smartphone manufacturers, Xiaomi didn’t launch a smartphone lately. We’ve seen a ton of leaks when it comes to this company’s handsets along with a ton of news connected to this OEM, but they did not launch new hardware for a while now. Xiaomi confirmed that they won’t be participating in CES 2015, which is taking place in Las Vegas next month, so that’s out of the question, but there are some new rumors coming from China which actually suggest the date this company might launch something.

According to the rumor, Xiaomi might launch new hardware on January 15, which is basically right after CES. This actually makes sense in a way, they prefer to avoid the CES rush and simply take the spotlight after that event. The rumor does not mention what Xiaomi is planning to launch though and there are many possibilities here. As I said earlier, we’ve seen a bunch of their devices leaked lately and some of them even got certified in the meantime. The Redmi 2S and Redmi Note 2 are definitely a possibility here, especially the Redmi 2S which got certified a while back. Another possibility is the Leadcore-powered 399 Yuan smartphone by Xiaomi which also got certified by TENAA in China. We’re still not sure on the price, but it’s been rumored several times that Xiaomi will price it as low, we’ll see. Xiaomi might opt to release a new line of smartphones as well or perhaps the Mi4’s successor, though I doubt that will happen in January. Xiaomi Mi4 was announced in July, so I doubt this Chinese OEM will opt to launch another flagship only 6 months later, especially considering the fact that the Mi4 is still a great device, both on paper and performance.

This China-based company certainly does have big plans for 2015, they intend to move 100 million devices in 2015, which is a big step up from approximately 60 million they were able to sell this year.
