Rumor: Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 Will Be Powered By The Snapdragon 615 And Cost 899 Yuan ($145)

Xiaomi’s CEO just flat out announced that the company will announce the Mi5 handset next month, which very few people expected considering it’s been only about 6 months since their last flagship handset, the Mi4, launched. We won’t be getting a better confirmation than that though, so… we’re looking forward to that. Until that occurs though, we have a new leak from China which regard to Xiaomi’s upcoming Redmi Note 2 handset.

This is basically another specs leak, which goes hand-in-hand with the previous leak. According to this report, the Redmi Note 2 will feature a 5.5-inch 1080p (1920 x 1080) display along with 2GB of RAM for your multitasking needs and 16GB of in-built storage (which you’ll probably be able to expand). This handset will ship with a 3,100mAh battery and will come with Android 4.4 KitKat pre-installed with MIUI 6 on top of it. As far as cameras go, 13-megapixel sensor will be located at the back of this handset, while you’ll be able to find a 5-megapixel snapper on the front side of this device. Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 will be powered by Qualcomm’s 64-bit Snapdragon 615 processor, as previous rumors were saying as well. This new rumors also says that the phone will cost only 899 Yuan ($145), which would be great.

Xiaomi Redmi Note was (and still is) an extremely popular device in China (and India). I have no doubt that its successor will be really popular as well, especially if they manage to price it so low. This will be a perfect competitor to Meizu’s recently released M1 Note handset which is priced at 999 Yuan ($161) and has a somewhat similar specs, though MediaTek’s chip is powering that handset, not the Snapdragon 615 which is rumored to power on the Redmi Note 2. Xiaomi means business, the Mi5 and Redmi Note 2 handsets will launch soon it seems and I bet both of those will be extremely popular out in the market.
