Rockstar Games Launches Grand Theft Auto: China Town Wars For Android

If you’re a Grand Theft Auto fan, you have one more game to play on your Android phone or tablet as Rockstar Games has just launched another from the series onto Android as of yesterday. Grand Theft Auto: China Town Wars is now available in the Play Store, and you can pick it up for $4.99 right now if you’re so inclined. Now, this isn’t quite like the other Grand Theft Auto games already previously launched onto Android over the past couple of years. China Town Wars takes things back to the roots of Grand Theft Auto (at least where the view angle is concerned) and places you in a top down view as you complete various missions, instead of the third person open world style gameplay we have been used to from all current GTA games.

This was originally launched for mobile console platforms back in 2009, despite that fact the graphics actually look pretty decent with a stylized/cell-shaded type of visuals, which quite honestly looks great and it feels right at home on a mobile platform like Android. In China Town Wars you play as Huang Lee who is seeking revenge after his father’s death while also trying to make sure your family remains in control of the triad gangs in Liberty City. Aside from the top down visuals, most everything is completely “GTA” as the game includes tons of side missions as you’d expect, loads of weaponry with which to unleash on your foes,(and random civilians if that’s how you play GTA)and you’ll even find mini-games and hidden collectibles to gather throughout the game.

Grand Theft Auto: China Town Wars has support for Android TV devices which should be a huge plus for those who own a Nexus Player as you can play this with the gamepad like a traditional GTA game. For those who don’t have an Android TV device, support for Bluetooth and USB gamepads is included for you too so don’t sweat it. It also supports widescreen resolution if you’re playing on Android TV, and the graphics are listed as being enhanced from the original version with lighting and explosion effects. If you don’t own a gamepad, the touch controls should work just fine for you as Rockstar states the touchscreen controls have been updated and they are “highly customizable.” If you want to grab GTA: China Town Wars for yourself, you can pick it up for $4.99 from the Play Store link below.
