New Mid-Range LG H Series Appears On Benchmarking Site

Looks like smartphone manufacturer LG is getting ready to launch a new series of Android Lollipop flavored smartphones next year. Some benchmarks were spotted on HTML5test, a website designed to rate how well various browsers on a variety of devices support the HTML5 specification. According to the useragent recorded when the test was performed, the mystery device is the LG-H440n. A quick look at this information reveals that the smartphone is running an early release build of Android 5.0 Lollipop, LRX02E. It’s great to see manufacturers already embracing Google’s latest OS, and we can expect to see this device shipping with the final build of Lollipop, LRX21M.

According to the source, LG is planning on releasing the H series in Europe as well as in the United States. Three separate model numbers have been given, with the aforementioned H440n being the device slated for a European release. For the United States, we have the LG-H441, which will be the T-Mobile variant, as well as the LG-H443, which will be heading for AT&T. No word yet on what other carriers will be receiving the new smartphone family, but it will be very surprising if we don’t see these phones hitting Verizon and Sprint as well.

Other details on the currently unannounced devices are rather slim, but the source states that the smartphones will feature a 1280 x 720 HD display. The actual screen size of the phones are yet to be confirmed, but based on what we know about the device resolution, the H series is likely to occupy space in the mid-range of LG’s lineup. There is currently no solid information on a release date, but we expect to hear an official announcement either at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES), which will take place in January of next year; or at Mobile World Congress (MWC) in March.

Pricing also remains a mystery for the H series, but we will keep you informed as new information surfaces.
