Oppo launched two new devices on the company’s press event today, Oppo N3 and R5. The Oppo N3 is the company’s newest flagship which features the auto rotating camera on the top of the device while the R5 is the new king of thin phones, it’s the thinnest phone in the world, only 4.85mm thick. We already have lots of content on these devices at Android Headlines, but something interesting came my way which I felt obliged to share and what not many people know. Oppo has integrated LifeVibesTM VoiceExperience audio enhancement into the Oppo N3. VoiceExperience is made by a company called NXP Software which is an independent software vendor for mobile smart devices. Oppo N3 comes with the latest VoiceExperience 4.5 audio quality differentiation. Adding VoiceExperience to our new handset has pushed the limits of what we can achieve for our customers in terms of voice call quality, including for Voice over IP calls which are becoming more and more popular with our customers,” said OPPO’s Sourcing Director, Leon Lau.
LifeVibes VoiceExperience 4.5 enhances the audio quality of circuit switched and VoIP calls, including Skype, WeChat and QQ networks. That’s not all though, it also enhances voice recognition and voice recording applications. “We customized the VoiceExperience software to match the superior characteristics of OPPO’s latest smartphone and take full advantage of the Qualcomm Hexagon DSP on the 8974 platform. The result is clear, rich conversations in normal and hands-free mode, automatic background noise suppression to filter out city and office noises, seamless echo cancellation and our fullband technology to handle VoIP calls without the MIPS increase traditionally seen. We also innovated iteratively with Oppo on enhancing the audio with the novel auto-rotating camera feature.” added Nicolas Sauvage, Sales Director of NXP Software’s OEM Business Line.
It’s always nice to hear something like this, attention to detail is something most of us appreciate. Unfortunately it seems like Oppo priced Oppo N3 a bit too high, it has great specifications and all, but it seems like the device will be priced at $650 in China, which is too high in my humble opinion. Other Chinese OEMs sell just as powerful devices for half that much. Oppo N3 sure has some nice unique benefits, like the rotation camera, but the question is how many people are willing to splash that amount of money on the device. The price will quite probably be even higher once / if Oppo launches the device abroad.
