Toshiba Chromebook 2 announced, offers decent 1080p display

tc2

Back at CES, Toshiba announced its first Chromebook and now they are back at it with a new and improved successor. The Chromebook 2 has a very similar aesthetic to its predecessor, though it’s much lighter at just under three bounds and seems a bit less clunky in design when compared to the original.

Probably the most exciting change, however, is that the Chromebook 2 offers a “higher-end” model that trades in the1366x768 resolution on its 13.3-inch for a 1080p display. Unlike the Samsung Chromebook 2, this display is actually of the IPS variety and therefore has much better colors and vibrancy when compared to nearly every other Chromebook out there. For those that don’t care about getting the best display possible, Toshiba will also offer up a model with the same 1366×768 display as found in the original Toshiba Chromebook.

Moving past the display, the Chromebook 2 is powered by a dual-core Intel Celeron processor (with fanless design) and will come with either 2GB or 4GB, depending on if you get the base model or the 1080p IPS model. Other specs include a battery rated for 9 hours use, 16GB storage with 100GB Google Drive space, and a Skullcandy-branded audio experience.

The Toshiba Chromebook 2 will arrive on October 5th with the base model costing just $249, while the 4GB/1080p variant is still very affordable at $329. While the Toshiba Chromebook 2 isn’t a perfect device, it is a step in the right direction.
