Samsung is now listing the Samsung Galaxy Mega 2 on the official Samsung site for Thailand, which may be about as close to an official announcement as we will get. The Galaxy Mega 2 is the successor to the Galaxy Mega 6.3 and Galaxy Mega 5.8 and has a 6-inch screen that falls in the middle of its predecessors. That big screen runs at 1280 x 720 resolution.
Powering the Galaxy Mega 2 is a 1.5GHz quad-core processor, though it is unclear whether Samsung is using their own Exynos chip. Supporting the screen and processor is 1.5GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage, though that can be expanded via microSD cards. For cameras, the device gets an 8MP rear-facing unit and a 2.1MP front-facing camera.
Samsung includes some of the features and tweaks found on other recently released devices, like their Ultra Power Saving Mode. The Galaxy Mega 2 comes with Android 4.4 KitKat installed.
Thus far, Thailand is the only country where Samsung is making the device available, though other Asian countries will likely follow. No official announcement has been made about availability in other markets.
