LG G3 A announced, essentially a LG G2 wrapped in new clothing

LG-G3-A

The LG G3 hasn’t been out on the market very long and yet we’ve already seen a number of spin-offs, including the LG G3 Beat (aka G3 S), the LG G3 LTE-A and the rumored LG G3 Stylus. Now LG has officially added yet another new member to the pack, the LG G3 A.

If we had to describe the LG G3 A in as few words as possible, this would be it: the LG G2 with a revamped look. That means you get the same 2.26GHz Snapdragon 800 CPU with 2GB RAM, and a 5.2-inch display with a 1080p resolution. Unlike the G2, however, you do get the new 13MP cam with the laser AF system and a microSD expansion slot. Other specs include a 2.1MP front cam, a 2610 mAh battery and 32GB storage.

The LG G3 A offers the same software features as the LG G3, and even adds a few new ones including “T action” which lets you make a wrist-based gesture for launching apps, answering calls or silencing the phone. There’s also a new optional security feature that sounds an alarm if someone disconnects your phone from its charger, which could be a handy alert that someone is messing with your phone for those times when you sneak away from your device for a moment.

As is often typical of these types of variants, the LG G3 A is currently exclusive to Korea and, more specifically, to the carrier SK Telecom. There’s no word on pricing just yet, or if LG plans to release the device outside of its home country. What do you think, would you like to see the LG G3 A in your home region, provided the price is right?
