HTC One M8 with Windows Phone is Official

HTCONEM8WINDOWS

Yes, you read that right. An Android website blogging about the new Windows Phone from HTC. Well it’s not really new. We like to talk about our competition as well, after all competition is good for business. Even if you hate Microsoft or Apple, they are what keeps Android/Google on top.

There had been many leaks of the HTC One M8 Windows Phone version, which many of us thought might be the W8, but it looks like we were wrong. HTC literally took the HTC One M8 with Android 4.4.x on board and threw Windows Phone on there. We still have the gorgeous 5-inch 1920×1080 resolution display, Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 chipset, 2GB of RAM, 32GB of storage with a microSD card slot on board, and a 2600mAh battery. We even have the same duo-camera as the Android version of the One M8 has.

HTC has also brought over some of their own features from Android, like Blinkfeed, which is one of my favorites. But now with a bootloader that can do both Windows Phone and Android, it looks like we’ve got ourselves a new HTC HD2 on our hands. Has that thing even died yet? The HD2 was an amazing device, it ran anything you could think of, and the M8 might do just that.

Of course, with this being a Windows Phone device, there is a catch. And that is that it’s only available at Verizon. Not anywhere else. It’ll be available at Verizon Wireless today for $99 on contract, and in store tomorrow. Maybe it’s gonna take them a full day to flash a few M8′s over to Windows Phone? Seeing as theres no actual difference on the hardware between the two. So how many of you are planning to pick up a HTC One M8 running Windows Phone now that it’s official? Be sure to let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
