Google’s Nexus 6 Gets Benchmarked With Snapdragon 801 Processor And 1080p Display

AH Nexus

Rumors surrounding the next Nexus device have made their rounds these past few weeks. Of course rumors aren’t the exact information you want to believe, but they give you an idea of what you can expect. Next to rumors are benchmarks and they usually roll out a little while after rumors circulate throughout the web. Benchmarks are not always correct but they give us a better understanding of the soon to be announced product. The GFXBenchmark Database is just one of these benchmark sites that always blesses us with news. The latest of course are benchmark scores about the possible Nexus 6 made by Motorola codenamed “Shamu.” Before these benchmarks, rumors spewed off of references made in Google code that Motorola would create the next Nexus handset.

Unfortunately, the GFXBenchmark Database does not give us a whole lot about the the rumored device. All we really know so far is that the Nexus 6 will run on a Snapdragon 801 processor. The same processor can be found in devices like the Galaxy S5, HTC One M8, and the OnePlus One. With benchmark scores indicating that the Nexus 6 will have the Snapdragon 801 processor, the scores also indicate is that the Nexus 6 will come equipped with a 1080p screen. Speculation about the screens resolution before these benchmarks were that the Nexus 6 will come with a Quad HD screen. According to these benchmark scores, compared to the LG G3, a Quad HD screen will likely not be found here. Now a Quad HD panel would be nice if other rumors play out such as the device having a “phablet” sized screen. In that case, we would love to see Quad HD.

Motorola’s codenamed device “Shamu,” has the potential to be anything. These benchmark scores from the GFX database give us some idea of what Google’s next flagship will be. Until than, rumors of the Nexus 6 will continue to circulate throughout the internet until concrete information about this rumored device comes out. With what we know so far, the Nexus 6 won’t be too bad of a device, a Snapdragon 801 processor and 1080p display will set the device right next to current flagships — minus the Quad HD. While we wait for more information to be released about “Shamu,” let us know what you think about the benchmark scores in the comments below.
