Alleged Moto X+1 benchmark test shows older Snapdragon 800 inside

When the Moto X was announced, there were complaints that the specifications were not cutting edge and on par with other flagship handsets. Motorola stood by its device. Nevertheless, it did not perform how the company had hoped. So with the Moto X+1 right around the corner, Motorola has a chance to deliver what everyone really wants. A recent benchmark showed that the device would have Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 801 processor. Another benchmark making its way around today, though, says otherwise.

A benchmark on GFXBench shows the alleged Moto X+1 being operated by an older Snapdragon 800 processor. This is the same one that was appearing in devices last fall when the original Moto X launched. However, Motorola does have its X8 Mobile Computing System. But what is confusing about this benchmark showing the older Snapdragon 800 is its clock speed. It matches that of the newer Snapdragon 801. For now, it is up in the air whether or not Motorola is going with the Snapdragon 800 or 801 for this device. Either way, 2GB of RAM seems to be locked in.

Motorola is leaving behind the 720p resolution in favor of a 5.2-inch, 1080p display. This is an upgrade over the 4.7-inch, 720p display Motorola used for the Moto X. The back of the device has a 12MP camera, but it could wind up being 13MP. A 2MP camera remains in the front. And this benchmark shows it running Android 4.4.4 KitKat.

We will find out more on September 4 when Motorola introduces the Moto X+1, Moto 360, Moto G2, and some other mysterious projects in Chicago.
