Earlier this month Motorola introduced a very limited time “try then buy” program, allowing folks to pick up a customized Moto X for two weeks while paying just a penny for the privilege. Now that Motorola’s offer has expiring, it seems that Samsung is following suit with a consumer trial program of its own.
The new 21-day trial program is completely free, though you’ll need to place a credit/debit deposit down during the trial, which will be fully refunded when the borrowed device is returned in undamaged condition. Eligible devices are the Galaxy S5, Note 3, Gear 2 and the Gear Fit.
The catch? You’ll need to go to one of five Galaxy Studio retail locations in the United States:
- Dallas-Fort Worth/Frisco, TX: Stonebriar Centre Mall
- Houston/The Woodlands, TX: The Woodlands Mall
- Los Angeles/Canoga Park, CA: Westfield Topanga
- New York City: Samsung Galaxy Studio SoHo,
- Santa Clara, CA Westfield Valley Fair
For those that have been on the fence about getting a Samsung-branded device, this could be the perfect opportunity to get a closer look at the device of your choice. Too bad the trial is limited to so few locations, though perhaps if they find success with the consumer trial program they will be open to expanding it.
What do you think, anyone interested in taking a GS5, Note 3, Gear 2 or Gear Fit for a 21-day spin?
