For those still looking for a reason to pick up the Chromecast – you know that $35 HDMI dongle that Google announced last summer – here’s a few more reasons. As PBS Kids, Deezer and Daily Burn are all supported by Chromecast now. So you are able to cast content from those apps on your smartphone or tablet onto your TV. It’s pretty awesome and exactly what Chromecast was built for. So if you have small children, they can watch their favorite PBS shows now. Which should be a good reason to buy the Chromecast anyways. While Deezer is a great music streaming service, and Daily Burn gets you active, and working out. Which is great for those like me that work from home. That’s three more apps that now have Chromecast support, and the list is growing and growing.
We’ve got all kinds of goodies available for Chromecast now, including Netflix, Google Play Movies & TV, Google Play Music, YouTube, HBO Go, WatchESPN, and many others. We even have Avia Media player available so you can watch shows and movies from Showbox on the Chromecast. Not to mention my favorite Chromecast app, Plex. If you haven’t checked out Plex, you seriously should, it’s a great app.
The Chromecast is probably the best $35 you’ll ever spend on a gadget. It’s such a simple dongle, and does so much. It’ll be interesting to see what kind of news we see on the TV and Chromecast front at Google I/O tomorrow during the keynote. Maybe an Android TV set-top box? As always, let your thoughts and speculation be known in the comments down below. If you still haven’t picked up a Chromecast, you can still pick one up from Amazon and have it tomorrow or Thursday, if you have Amazon Prime (obviously depends on when you read this).
